Description

MGBHLM is seeking a Full Time 1 year contract Dental Assistant.  A Dental Assistant supports the delivery of oral health care by assisting dentists and other dental professionals during procedures, preparing treatment areas, and ensuring patient comfort. They play a key role in maintaining efficient, safe, and patient-centered dental services.

Responsibilities:
Clinical & Therapeutic Services
Provide individual, family, and group counseling using evidence-based and culturally grounded approaches.
Address concerns such as intergenerational trauma, grief and loss, substance use, anxiety, depression, and crisis response.
Deliver services in alignment with Non-Insured Health Benefits Program mental health counselling guidelines.
Develop personalized wellness plans that reflect client strengths, cultural identity, and community context.
Cultural Safety & Indigenous Healing
Incorporate traditional healing practices (e.g., talking circles, Elder guidance, land-based healing) alongside clinical therapy.
Ensure services are culturally safe, respectful, and responsive to the impacts of colonization, including residential schools and systemic inequities.
Collaborate with Elders, Knowledge Keepers, and community members to support culturally appropriate care.
Community Engagement
Build trusting relationships with Indigenous communities, organizations, and leadership.
Support community-based wellness initiatives, outreach programs, and prevention strategies.
Facilitate workshops on mental wellness, resilience, and trauma-informed care.
Case Management & Coordination
Maintain accurate and confidential client records in accordance with professional and program standards and the Med Access Electronic Medical Record.
Coordinate care with other service providers, including primary care, social services, and community supports.
