MGBHLM is seeking a Part-Time Dental Therapist (1 year contract). A Dental Therapist in Saskatchewan provides primary oral health care services in rural, remote, and Indigenous communities. Working under the supervision of a licensed dentist, they combine clinical treatment, prevention, and community outreach to improve access to care and reduce oral health disparities.
Responsibilities:
Clinical Dental Services
Conduct oral examinations and basic diagnoses
Develop and implement treatment plans within scope of practice
Take and interpret dental radiographs (X-rays)
Provide routine and emergency treatments, including:
o Fillings (restorative care)
o Simple tooth extractions
o Stainless steel crowns
o Pulp therapy (e.g., pulpotomies)
o Preventive services such as scaling, polishing, fluoride treatments, and sealants
Administer local anesthesia
Preventive Care & Oral Health Promotion
Deliver oral health education to individuals, families, and schools
Promote proper hygiene, nutrition, and disease prevention
Implement community-based prevention programs, especially for children and high-risk populations
