Summer Student JobThe Moose Jaw Public Library is hiring a Summer Student to help organize and run summer programming for children. This year the Library is promoting learning and celebrating nature with the Summer
Reading Club theme Dive In! This position will have a focus on celebrating water and waterways, from the local to the global level. The Summer Reading Club Assistant will help participants develop a sense of connection with the natural world, engage their curiosity about humanities impact on and place in different natural systems, encourage creative and cultural thinking, and increase literacy and STEAM skills.
This position requires a high level of autonomy and responsibility. We are looking for a versatile and friendly community-oriented person who is passionate about people, nature, and science. The successful
candidate should be able to work with patrons of any age, background, or socio-economic status, and will be eager to learn new skills and share their knowledge with others. The candidate must be confident and outgoing and able to work with a high degree of independence to deliver programs to large groups of children.
This position is 17 hours per week for a period of 8 weeks, and involves shift work, including evenings and weekends.
Duties/Responsibilities include:
Designing and delivering a Dive In! water themed program, including a series of themed playground
programs and activities
Providing excellent library service and programming to children and their parents
Reporting to the Deputy Head Librarian and working closely with the staff of the Childrens Department to contribute to Summer Reading Club programming and undertaking programming independently
Creating themed craft kits
