POSITION SUMMARY
The Housing Manager is responsible for the overall planning, administration, and management of the First Nations housing program. This includes overseeing housing allocation, maintenance, construction coordination, policy development, and tenant relations.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES
Manage daily housing operations, including inventory, waitlists and tenant records. Coordinate applicants, allocations, and transfers while ensuring compliance with policies and procedures.
Develop, review, and update housing policies to align with funding requirements and community priorities, and provide recommendations to Chief and Council.
The primary contact for tenant and applicants, addressing concerns and disputes. Enforce tenancy agreements, including arrears management, while promoting a safe and respectful housing environment.
Oversee housing inspections, repairs, and preventative maintenance while coordinating contractors and projects. Monitor work quality to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.
Develop and manage the housing budget, track expenditures, and prepare financial reports. Administer rent collection and arrears recovery, ensuring accountability for all funding received.
Supervise housing staff, maintenance workers, and contractors by providing training, direction, and performance management. Promote a positive and productive work environment that supports teamwork, accountability, and high-quality service delivery.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education, Knowledge and Experience
Diploma or degree in Business Administration, Property Management or related field (or equivalent experience) with 3-5 years of experience.
Knowledge of First Nation housing programs, policies, and funding structures, with strong skills in budgeting, reporting, and administration, as well as conflict resolution and problem-solving.
