Description

Carry the Kettle Nakoda Nation is seeking a strategic and results-driven Director of Finance to lead and strengthen the Nations financial management systems and practices. This senior leadership role is responsible for ensuring financial integrity, transparency, and accountability while supporting the long-term financial sustainability of the Nation.
The Director of Finance will oversee all financial operations, provide expert financial guidance to leadership, and ensure compliance with applicable policies, legislation, and audit standards.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the development and management of annual budgets, forecasts, and long-term financial planning
Prepare and present accurate monthly and annual financial statements and reports, Oversee all financial operations, including payroll, accounts payable, and accounts receivable
Monitor cash flow, financial transactions, and account reconciliations
Ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), audit requirements, and financial policies
Develop, implement, and maintain financial policies, procedures, and internal controls
Supervise and mentor finance staff, fostering accountability and professional growth
Liaise with external partners, including auditors, financial institutions, and service providers
Support Chief and Council with financial analysis, reporting, and strategic decision-making
Qualifications
Bachelors degree in commerce, Business Administration, Accounting, or a related field
Minimum of seven (7) years of progressive experience in finance, including leadership experience
Professional accounting designation (CPA) is considered a strong asset
Experience in budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, and analysis
Experience working in a First Nation or public sector environment is an asset
Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered
