MGBHLM Interpretive Centre & Art Gallery is a cultural and economic initiative dedicated to preserving and sharing the history, art, and living traditions of Mosquito, Grizzly Bear's Head, Lean Man First Nation, while supporting education, tourism, and community development.
Reporting to Chief and Council, the General Manager provides overall leadership and strategic direction, overseeing operations, programming, finances, staff, partnerships, and visitor experience. This role requires a culturally grounded, hands-on leader who can balance operational excellence with long-term sustainability and cultural integrity.
Key Responsibilities:
-Provide strategic leadership aligned with community values and economic goals
-Oversee daily operations, programming, exhibitions, and visitor experience
-Ensure cultural integrity by working with Elders and Knowledge Keepers
-Manage budgets, financial reporting, and secure funding opportunities
-Lead, supervise, and support staff and volunteers
-Build and maintain partnerships with community, government, and tourism stakeholders
-Oversee marketing in the restaurant, gift shop, events, conferences and initiatives to increase visibility and revenue and all public engagements,
-Ensure compliance, accountability, and effective governance
Qualifications & Experience:
-Post-secondary education in a related field or equivalent experience
-2-3 years of senior management experience (cultural, tourism, or nonprofit preferred)
-Strong knowledge of Indigenous culture, governance, and community engagement
-Experience in financial management, funding, and operations
-Proven leadership, communication, and organizational skills
-Experience in museum/gallery or cultural programming is an asset
-Clear Criminal Record Check required
