MLCFA Inc. is looking to fill the position of an Off Reserve Worker for the community. The role is to provide services such as child protection and assessment, casework, legal support and reporting requirements, as well as providing advocacy, support, and referral services for band members living off-reserve.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Attend family court, Annual Ward Reviews, and Home Visits of those families who are Montreal Lake Cree Nation members off reserve
Provide support with a view to preserving the family unit
Provide support and advocate for parents whose children are in the care of the Saskatchewan Ministry of Social Services (MSS)
To jointly go on a foster home visit with member(s) of the MSS staff as required
Offer services only under the direction of the MLCFA Inc. authority
Adoptions services will only be offered on a limited basis and generally only within a child's extended family
Prepare for and be present at Family Services Court as required
Make recommendations for the children in need of care, as well as joint planning and consultation services, and work with MSS staff
Develop and organize family and community resources and provide information with parents whose children are in care off-reserve
Qualifications:
Must possess a Bachelor of Indian Social Work or Bachelor of Social Work
Knowledge of the Saskatchewan Child and Family Services Act
A strong knowledge of mental health, addictions and other issues and the effects on an individual, family unit and community
Understanding of the Structured Decision Making System (SDM)
Must be willing to submit a current CPIC and Vulnerable Sector Check upon hiring
Must have a valid driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle
