MGBHLM Economic Development Corporation Ltd. is the business arm of MGBHLM First Nation. It oversees a diverse portfolio across retail, construction, and security, focused on sustainable growth, innovation, and community prosperity while upholding First Nation values and governance. Reporting to Board of Directors, the GM provides overall leadership and strategic direction. The GM oversees operations, financial performance, staff, and stakeholder relations, ensuring efficiency, accountability, transparency, and alignment with long-term economic development goals.
Responsibilities:
-Develop and implement strategic and operational plans aligned with community priorities
-Oversee daily operations across all business units
-Lead, mentor, and evaluate staff to ensure high performance and accountability
-Establish and maintain effective policies, procedures, and internal controls
-Prepare and manage annual budgets and financial forecasts
-Monitor financial performance and provide regular reports to Board of Directors
-Oversee audits, funding proposals, and grant applications
-Serve as the primary liaison between the Corporation and Board of Directors,
-Ensure compliance with applicable legislation, including the Indian Act and the Canada Labour Code
-Oversee contracts, procurement, and asset management
-Identify and mitigate operational, financial, and legal risks
-Ensure business practices support community benefit and long-term prosperity
Qualifications:
-Masters degree in business administration or an Bachelors Degree in relatable field
-Minimum five (5) years of senior management experience in finance, HR, and administration
-Strong understanding of corporate and Indigenous governance structures
-Experience in strategic planning, business development, and project management
-Excellent leadership, and decision-making skills
-Knowledge of the cultural, political
