Description

Saskatchewan Distance Learning Centre requires a permanent full-time English as an Addiitonal Language Consultant. The position will be located in Saskatoon and commence on August 27, 2026.

Primary Responsibilities

Program Administration and Coordination
* Coordinate the implementation and ongoing refinement of Sask DLCs Kindergarten to Grade 12 EAL programming.
* Lead the development and maintenance of departmental procedures related to student intake, identification, language assessment, placement, transition, and exit from EAL programming.
* Ensure EAL programming aligns with Saskatchewan Ministry expectations, inclusive education practices, and departmental processes.
* Monitor implementation of EAL programming across grade levels and campuses, identifying opportunities to improve consistency and responsiveness, and provide program updates and recommendations to the Superintendent of Student Supports.
* Support the development and implementation of EAL instructional programming, including synchronous language supports and secondary EAL course offerings.

Assessment, Data Collection, and Reporting
* Coordinate use of the Common Framework of Reference (CFR) for the identification, assessment, placement, and monitoring of English language learners.
* Develop and maintain effective processes and systems for collecting, documenting, and reporting student language proficiency data.
* Ensure compliance with provincial reporting requirements and Ministry timelines related to multilingual learners.
* Review student data, enrolment patterns, and program information, and support staff in using assessment data to inform programming and instructional decisions.

Coordination and Support of Staff
* Coordinate the implementation of EAL services across grade bands, campuses, and instructional teams.
* Provide leadership and guidance to EAL Teachers, classroom teachers, and other staff.
