Description

The Town of Wadena is seeking a motivated and hands-on Parks and Recreation Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations, maintenance, and upkeep of municipal parks, recreation facilities, and select municipal buildings. This leadership position is responsible for supervising Parks and Recreation staff and coordinating contracted services to help ensure Town facilities remain safe, clean, functional, and well-maintained for residents and visitors alike.
This position will play a key role in the hands-on operation of municipal facilities and recreational spaces, while working closely with the Parks and Recreation Coordinator to support the overall success of the department. While administrative duties such as bookings, scheduling, and program coordination are managed through the Coordinator role, strong communication, teamwork, and cooperation between both positions are essential to ensuring efficient and effective service delivery to the community.
The ideal candidate will possess a minimum Grade 12 education and hold a valid Saskatchewan Class 5 Drivers Licence. The successful applicant will demonstrate strong leadership, organizational, and hands-on operational abilities, with the capacity to effectively supervise staff, coordinate maintenance activities, and ensure the safe and efficient operation of municipal parks and recreation facilities. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential, along with the ability to work collaboratively within a team environment and alongside other municipal departments.
Arena Operator Level I and II certifications would be considered strong assets. Possession of, or willingness to obtain, a Pool Operator Course certification would also be considered an asset. Post-secondary education in recreation, facilities management, trades, or a related field will be considered beneficial.
