Description

Muscowpetung Education Centre (MEC) is dedicated to providing a holistic and culturally enriched learning environment for our youth. We are looking for energetic and reliable Substitute Teachers to join our team on a casual basis. As a substitute at MEC, you are more than just a placeholder; you are a vital part of our students' day, ensuring that their education remains consistent and that our classrooms remain a safe, respectful place to learn.

Key Responsibilities

-Classroom Instruction: Deliver pre-planned lessons with enthusiasm and clarity across various grade levels (K-12).
-Student Engagement: Foster a positive learning atmosphere that encourages student participation and respects individual learning styles.
-Cultural Sensitivity: Uphold and integrate the values and traditions of the Muscowpetung Saulteaux Nation within the classroom.
-Safety & Supervision: Manage classroom behaviour in accordance with MEC policies and perform necessary supervision during breaks, lunch, and bus transitions.
-Professionalism: Maintain confidentiality regarding student information and provide clear feedback to the regular classroom teacher upon their return.

Qualifications

-Teaching Credentials: A valid Saskatchewan Professional Teaching Certificate is highly preferred.
Educational Background: Individuals with a degree in Education or a related field who are eligible for a Temporary Teaching Permit will also be considered.
-Experience: Previous experience teaching or working with Indigenous youth is a significant asset.
-Adaptability: The ability to walk into a new classroom environment and build immediate rapport with students and staff.

Mandatory Requirements

-Clearances: A current Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Check (must be provided prior to the first day of work).
-Communication: Must have a reliable way to be contacted for early-morning "call-outs."
