Description

The City of Melville is seeking an experienced and community-focused leader to join our Executive Leadership Team as Director of Community Services. Reporting directly to the City Manager, this senior leadership position is responsible for overseeing the operation, maintenance, development and strategic direction of the Citys recreation facilities, parks, programs, tourism initiatives, communications and emergency services.

The Director leads the day-to-day and long-term operations of the CN Community Centre, Merv Moore Sportsplex, swimming pool, outdoor arenas, parks, trails and other municipal recreation facilities. The role also oversees recreation programming, facility maintenance, asset management, public relations, marketing, tourism and corporate communications while working collaboratively with Public Works, Protective Services and community stakeholders.

Key responsibilities include staff leadership, recruitment, training, budgeting, policy development, project oversight, contract administration and preparing reports and recommendations for City Council. The successful candidate will possess strong leadership, communication, organizational and financial management skills, along with experience in facility operations, recreation management and public engagement.

A Bachelors degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Construction Management or a related field is preferred, along with a minimum of five years of progressively responsible leadership experience. Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.
