Description

Position Summary

Urban Services is seeking a compassionate and culturally grounded Community Healing Program Manager to support Calling Their Spirit: A Journey of Healing & Remembrance. This program supports George Gordon First Nation Indian Residential School Survivors, families, and community members impacted by intergenerational trauma and the discovery of children in unmarked graves. The manager will work alongside Elders and Knowledge Keepers to organize culturally safe healing spaces grounded in traditional teachings, ceremony, and trauma-informed supports.

Key Responsibilities

*Lead monthly healing workshops and survivor support activities
*Build relationships with Elders, Knowledge Keepers, and facilitators
*Organize ceremonies, feasts, and seasonal cultural events
*Guide participants to Traditional and Western counselling options
*Oversee logistics such as venues, transportation, food, and honoraria
*Maintain records and contribute to program reports
*Help coordinate memorial and remembrance gatherings

Qualifications

*Degree in Social Work, Human Services, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
*Experience working with First Nations communities
*Understanding of intergenerational trauma and Residential School impacts
*Strong organizational and communication skills
*Ability to work respectfully with Elders and Knowledge Keepers
*Trauma-informed and culturally sensitive approach
*Valid drivers license
*Ability to work occasional evenings/weekends
*Criminal Record with vulnerable sector check
