Qualifications:
Must possess a valid drivers license.
WHMIS, TDG, First Aid, Ground Disturbance Level 2, Rigging and Trenching, OH&S Certificates must be held or obtained
Have working knowledge of backhoe, mower and tractor including operation and service.
Have a working knowledge of road building and maintenance
Have a working knowledge of backhoe techniques including installation of culverts
Have good record keeping skills
Must be capable of working with minimal or without supervision
Willing to learn to operate other equipment
Must operate in accordance with bylaws, policies, and legislation
Duties:
Must be able to operate backhoe and have knowledge on how to install culverts
Will be responsible for smaller culvert installations, fixing ends of culverts and cleaning up ditches
Must be able to work independently and supervise own worksite
Service machinery, make and assist in repairs of machinery.
Installation of culverts and cleaning culverts
Must be able to complete own locates as required within work scope
Fuel machinery properly
Complete and carry necessary tools for minor repairs.
Change blades as required
Make sure machine/equipment is in safe operating condition (walk around check; oil, antifreeze, tires, any leaks, etc; an operational check shall be done daily) including completing pre and post inspections and corresponding reports
Keep machinery clean inside and out as well as shop space
Complete routine maintenance and repairs to various equipment and tools
Make sure the engines are properly warmed up before operating.
Participate in maintaining a safe, neat and clean workshop environment.
Keep track of inventories, gravel needs, signs that are damaged or missing, damaged culvert ends, and other problems and report these
Remove snow from sidewalks and entry ways
To perform other miscellaneous works such as fencing, mowing, signage, rock picking, clean shop or other duties as assigned
