Job description:
Within the context of a client-centered care model, in accordance with established standards of professional practice, and the vision, mission and values of the Saskatoon Health Region, the Staff Recreation Therapist works as a member of the collaborative health care team and provides Recreation Therapy services with specific clients and/or client groups. Patient safety is a priority and a responsibility shared by all SHR staff and as such, the requirement to continuously improve quality and safety is inherent in all aspects of this position.
The Staff Recreation Therapist utilizes a strengths approach to practice with a focus on enhancing life-long leisure skills and attitudes, eliminating barriers to leisure and optimizing leisure participation for clients with chronic illness or disabling conditions. The clinical role and function of a Staff Recreation Therapist includes assessment, intervention planning, utilization of evidence informed interventions, evaluation and documentation of Recreation Therapy services. Services are provided to groups or individuals in inpatient, outpatient or community settings, relating to the clients leisure needs, interests and abilities and overall treatment plan.
