Description

BoviGen Genetic Services is seeking a dependable, hardworking, and experienced Herdsman. This is a hands-on position focused on daily herd care and management.

We are looking for someone who is confident working with cattle, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and understands the importance of attention to detail.

Schedule

This role operates within a livestock environment where scheduling is influenced by herd and seasonal needs. Flexibility, including weekend work, is required, with time off provided as operationally possible.

Compensation

Wage is based on experience.

Key Responsibilities

Daily feeding, bedding, and general livestock care
Monitoring animal health and reporting concerns
Assisting with calving and newborn calf care
Supporting reproductive procedures
Handling cattle safely and confidently
Maintaining clean and organized barn facilities
General farm maintenance
General equipment maintenance
Assisting with record keeping and herd inventory management
Requirements

Prior hands-on experience with calving cows is essential
Strong livestock handling skills
Mechanical aptitude and experience with farm equipment maintenance is considered a strong asset
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Physically capable of performing farm duties in varying weather conditions
Strong work ethic and attention to detail
Effective communication skills
