Duties and Responsibilities
The Student Services Coordinator shall perform such duties and responsibilities as may be assigned including but not restricted to the following:
a) Ensure there are prevention, intervention and follow-up services provided to identified students by registered Educational Psychologists or other qualified professionals.
b) Consult collaboratively with classroom teachers, special education teachers, school principals and others making up the school interdisciplinary teams in the creation, maintenance and amendment of student IEPs.
c) Upon receiving confidential reports from registered Educational Psychologists or other qualified professionals, the Student Services Coordinator shall ensure the documents are stored in an organized and secure manner that preserves the confidentiality and integrity of the reports.
d) In conjunction with school-based personnel, ensure the appropriate reports and required forms for student services, support and funding are submitted in an accurate and timely fashion to Indigenous Affairs and Northern Development Canada (INAC).
e) Advocate for the diverse needs of students and assist the school-based teams in meeting those learning needs.
f) Follow-up will include filing of reports detailing the findings of any testing and recommendations including reviewing them in a collaborative fashion with the school team including the parents/caregivers and the student where appropriate.
g) Provide Education Assistant (EA) training to school based EAs.
h) Provide intervention services including observation and administration, where appropriate, of behavioral and reading assessments as required.
i) Provide some counseling services for students where required upon the request of school personnel or provide appropriate, timely referrals to qualified outside resources.
j) Provide referrals to other professionals and act in conjunction with them when required
