Description

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Records Assistant Summer Student has an opportunity to learn how Municipal Records Retention Legislation and Bylaws can be interpreted and implemented and is responsible for assisting the Administrator with the management of hard copy and electronic records. The ideal applicant is currently enrolled in High School or Post-Secondary School.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
-Assist in a filing digitization project, sorting and preparing documents for scanning, and updating in-house filing systems.
-Assist with the maintenance of a variety of records management systems.
-Assist with the assessment and inventory of the Village's Municipal Governance records.
-Perform other duties as assigned by the Administrator.

MORE DETAILS:
-Required to work in compliance with the Saskatchewan Employment Act and Occupational Health and Safety Regulations.
-Must meet the requirements set out in the Canada Student Jobs wage subsidy grant.

QUALIFICATIONS:
-Criminal record check required.
-Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
-Interest in municipal government and/or information management is an asset.
-Current enrollment in or having successfully completed an information management, library science, archives, political science, history or related education program is an asset.
-Must be highly motivated to work both independently and in a collaborative environment.
-Good time management skills, punctual, responsible.
-Must be courteous and tactful in dealing with staff and the public.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
-Office environment.
-Frequent interruptions requiring flexibility and priority setting.
-Available to work weekdays, for a total of 20 hours per week.
-Physically active position.
