Description

Are you a community leader with a passion for arts, culture and recreation?  Do you like the thought of running a community facility and working with community groups?  The City of Melfort is seeking a new Program Coordinator to operate and manage the Kerry Vickar Centre.    

The Position:
    Coordinate and oversee bookings, events, and daily operations at the Kerry Vickar Centre, ensuring a safe, welcoming, and well-maintained facility.
    Build strong relationships with community recreation, arts, sport, and cultural organizations while promoting facility programs and services to maximize participation and venue use.
    Lead and support facility staff through effective supervision, communication, scheduling, and performance management.
    Manage operational budgets, purchasing, grants, and administrative records in accordance with City policies and procedures.
    Coordinate contracted service providers, including maintenance, technical, and food services, to ensure successful event delivery and facility operations.

The ideal candidate to qualify for the position will have:
    A degree or diploma in a social science, leisure services, recreation or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
    Minimum three years related experience, and at least 1 year in a municipal environment
    Previous work experience in program coordination, facility management, and staff supervision.    
    Ability to work effectively with community groups and members of the public.
    Strong skills in the areas of communication, information technology, administration, budgeting, and management.
    A general working knowledge of light and sound operations, facility maintenance, and contractor management would be an asset.
