Overview:
We are seeking compassionate individuals to join our team as a Home Support Worker through the Canada Summer Jobs program. You will play a vital role in providing essential care and support to individuals experiencing developmental disabilities. This position offers the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of the people we support.
Responsibilities:
Assist individuals with daily living tasks as well as accessing their community and connecting with peers
Be a role model and help guide problem solving and conflict resolution
Maintain a clean and safe environment
Follow support plans and instructions provided by healthcare professionals and provide support at medical appointments
Monitor, report, and document progress towards goals and any changes
Assist in coordinating social gatherings and planned group activities
Skills:
Experience in human services, specifically disability support is preferred
Knowledge of medication administration, positive behaviour support, and person centered care is an asset
Knowledge of the local community is an asset
Willing to learn and grow in skills and knowledge
Qualifications:
High School diploma or equivalent (GED). Must be attending post-secondary education in Fall 2025.
Must be between 18 - 30 years of age to be eligible for the Canada Summer Jobs program and apply for a Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector.
Valid Class 5 Drivers License and reliable vehicle is required.
Valid Standard / Intermediate First Aid Certificate is required
Proficiency in spoken and written English.
Availability for shift work.
