Description

This position supervises and instructs field crews engaged in irrigation, horticulture maintenance, grounds and open space within a designated geographic area and assists the Supervisor in the overall planning of same. This position performs maintenance activities, operates equipment, assists in planning and organization of assigned work units and supervises front line parks maintenance staff. This position reports to the Supervisor, Parks Maintenance.

Meets educational requirements with Grade 12 and turf or horticultural training, supported by three years of relevant experience including supervisory responsibilities. Holds a valid Saskatchewan drivers license, can obtain required endorsements, operate specialized equipment, and perform physically demanding work in all weather conditions.

Strong knowledge of parks maintenance methods, equipment, and materials, including basic irrigation systems and controls, along with a solid understanding of occupational health and safety practices to ensure safe work environments. Demonstrates the ability to implement maintenance management principles, maintain service standards, and effectively operate and allocate equipment for parks and open spaces. Proficient in preparing reports, work plans, and interpreting construction drawings, as well as using computers and MS Office to manage information and communications.

Proven ability to supervise, direct, and evaluate staff while maintaining productivity and adjusting resources as needed. Skilled in analyzing operations, developing recommendations, and contributing to policies and strategic plans.
