The CKCS Custodian is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness, safety, and overall sanitation of the Chief Kahkewistahaw Community School. Under the supervision of Maintenance Supervisor and in coordination with the Principal, the Custodian plays a vital role in ensuring a healthy and safe environment for students, staff, and visitors. This role must be carried out in accordance with occupational health and safety regulations, as well as any directives issued by the Fire Commissioners Office, Department of Health, Labor Act, and Education Committee.
The Custodian is expected to model professionalism, maintain confidentiality, and demonstrate respect in all interactions with students, staff, families, and the community.

REQUIRED COMPETENCIES & SKILLS:
1.    Minimum Grade 12 diploma or equivalent.
2.    Prior custodial or janitorial experience preferred.
3.    Knowledge of cleaning products, chemicals, and safe handling procedures.
4.    Ability to read and follow written instructions, safety labels, and usage guidelines.
5.    Strong time management and organizational skills.
6.    Ability to take direction, work independently, and prioritize tasks efficiently.
7.    Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
8.    Dependable, punctual, and committed to maintaining a safe learning environment.
9.    Demonstrated respect for children and school staff in a diverse cultural environment.
10.    Current Vulnerable Sector Check (within 6 months of hire or submitted within 30 days of employment offer).
