The opportunity
- Complete laytime calculations (both manually and with use of software) by extracting data from contracts, Charter Parties, Statement of Facts, and other relevant documents.
- Compare and interpret the results to show salient points and/or divergences.
Maintain detailed records throughout negotiation to settlement, including events impacting vessel loading activities, and interpret how changes during loading/discharging affect resulting demurrage/dispatch.
- Provide technical expertise on contractual clauses in relation to laytime and demurrage and for better management of potential commercial risk.
- Prepare and progress demurrage and despatch settlements, including timely issuance and settlement of notices, claims, and counterproposals.
- Support intercompany reconciliations and reporting for laytime costs and act as a key point of contact with external stakeholders, partnering with Legal on charter party disputes as needed.
Youll Bring
- Bachelors degree or diploma in Business, Supply Chain, Logistics, Vessel Operations, Mathematics, or a related field.
- Minimum one to two years experience in a related field.
Experience in international trade or the shipping industry (including prior experience with laytime calculations, interpreting Charter Parties/contracts, and using ocean transportation software) is considered an asset.
