Experience in counselling children, youth & families
Conducting initial assessments to determine needs & goals
Develop individualized serviced plans
Facilitate groups & develop programs
Attend relevant agency meetings, knowledgeable about agency programs/community activities & community outreach
Perform related administrative & record keeping duties
Participate in clinical supervision
Assist with supervision of peers, students & individual cases
Perform work outside of regular operating hours including evenings & weekends
Other duties as assigned
Degree in Social Work (BSW, BISW)
3-5 years of supervised clinical experience in a related/relevant counselling area
Eligible for registration with & maintain good standing in a relevant professional association
Certificate in Play Therapy an asset
Critical Incident Debriefing an asset
Theories/Practices of:
interviewing, assessment, & evaluation techniques
human development, behavior & change
communication & conflict resolution
trauma- & violence-informed approaches
Assess high risk clients (suicidal) & intervene quickly/appropriately
Recognize signs/symptoms of other mental health disorders & refer client to appropriate services
Cultural awareness & sensitivity to Indigenous, immigrant, refugee & newcomer & 2SLGBTQI+ communities
Experience in facilitating group work; knowledge of group dynamics
Strong organizational, time management & caseload management skills
Excellent written & verbal communication
Maintain confidentiality & uphold professional ethical standards
Respond effectively to complex & sensitive situations
