Description

POSITION OVERVIEW:
Reporting to the Director of Operations and Chief & Council, the Director of Health is responsible for providing leadership, direction, and oversight for the Nations health and wellness programs, services, staff, and strategic initiatives. This position plays a key role in supporting the overall health and wellbeing of community members by ensuring programs and services are culturally relevant, community-focused, and aligned with the Nations vision and priorities.
The Director of Health oversees daily operations of the Health Department, including program delivery, budgeting, reporting, funding agreements, and staff supervision. The position is responsible for ensuring services are delivered in compliance with legislation, organizational policies, accreditation standards, and funding requirements.
The successful candidate will work collaboratively with Chief & Council, community members, Health Canada, First Nations organizations, government agencies, and external partners to strengthen health services and develop initiatives that support the long-term wellness of the Nation. The Director of Health will also promote culturally safe, respectful, and trauma-informed approaches to care while fostering a positive and accountable team environment.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Degree in Administration, Health Sciences, Human Services, Nursing or a related field with relevant experience in the health field.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in a senior health or management role
Experience working with a First Nations communities
Strong leadership, communication and organizational skills
Experience with budgeting, program management and reporting
Must possess a valid Drivers licence, a reliable vehicle and willing to travel
Must pass a Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Search
