Description

Position Summary:
Chief Payepot School is seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Performing Arts & Theatre Teacher to develop and deliver dynamic, culturally responsive performing arts programming across grade levels. The successful candidate will lead theatre, drama, musictheatre, and performance projects that promote creative expression, cultural knowledge, and student engagement, and will collaborate with staff, Elders, and community partners to integrate Cree culture and language into the arts program.

Key Responsibilities:
    Plan and deliver highquality, developmentally appropriate performing arts and theatre instruction for PreK12 students, including drama, storytelling, movement, voice, and production skills.  
    Design and implement performances, school productions, and community showcases that highlight student learning and Cree cultural expression.  
    Integrate Cree language, stories, songs, and cultural practices into curriculum and performances in collaboration with Elders and community knowledge keepers.  
    Encourage inclusive participation, positive classroom climate, and student confidence through creative risktaking and restorative behaviour practices.  
    Assess student learning in the arts, maintain records, and communicate progress to students, families, and school leadership.  
    Collaborate with classroom teachers to support crosscurricular projects and incorporate the arts into broader learning goals.  
    Manage production logistics including rehearsal schedules, set/costume coordination, technical needs, and safe use of equipment and spaces.  
    Participate in professional development, staff meetings, and school events; support school safety, routines, and policy implementation.
