Description

We are currently seeking an Executive Director for the Sage Hill Writing Experience, a renowned summer residential writing workshop that draws students from across Canada and abroad, and offers working and learning opportunities to writers of all ages in a collegial atmosphere with outstanding facilitators.
Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Executive Director will:
Manage all aspects of the Sage Hill program. Be responsible for day-to-day budgeting and financial management. Write and oversee all grant applications. Raise funds and facilitate revenue-generating activities to ensure the viability of Sage Hill. Use strategic planning and a wide range of communications vehicles to promote Sage Hill. Supervise office staff, volunteers, and contractors. Facilitate meetings of the Board of Directors, provide regular reports, and record minutes. Supervise applications and the participant selection process. Manage programs on-site. Generate ideas for potential growth and expansion of Sage Hills programming.
Skills Required:
Excellent administrative experience related to financial management and budgeting, and computer skills in communications and accounting software. Proven skills in grant writing, program delivery, promotion, contracting, and strategic planning. Superior written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills. Substantial knowledge of literature and writing, and writing organizations in Canada. Experience supervising staff and contract employees. Self-motivated and able to work independently. Highly organized with proven ability to prioritize and work on multiple projects with competing demands to meet deadlines. Administrative experience in the non-profit sector or with arts or cultural organizations would be an asset. A disposition to upgrade skills may also be an asset.
