Description

We are looking for a proactive, innovative individual who thrives in a fast paced, changing environment. The ideal candidate must have a strong background in Food Chemistry, specialized in protein chemistry and be capable of developing processes for the extraction and purification of food ingredients. We work with bio-based materials including botanicals, legumes, oilseeds, and algae and yeast-based biomass. You will be responsible for developing processes from bench-top to commercialization Proven ability to develop and strengthen client relationships and manage expectations is required and a solid combination of R&D and industry experience is essential (minimum of 7-years). Experience in the area of business development would be an asset.

As part of the technology team, you will work closely with Engineers and Scientists to develop pilot plant scale processes. You will also be responsible for project planning, developing budgets, cost estimates and proposal & report writing. You will also assist in developing a strategy for identifying emerging industry trends. The ability to occasionally travel for business will be expected.

Key requirements of the role
o    A doctoral degree in the Food Sciences/Chemical Engineering is preferred; related backgrounds will be considered
o    Experience in the area of protein extraction and processing is essential
o    Experience in the areas of oils processing and carbohydrates are definite assets
o    Minimum 10 years of industry experience, combined with R&D work
o    Previous exposure from bench top to pilot scale projects
o    Excellent technical writing skills, with a strong command of the English language
o    Previous experience supervising and leading a team would be an asset
