Primary Purpose: Provide career development support to students and alumni from all backgrounds and disciplines to assist them in exploring, understanding, and achieving their career goals. Develop, implement and evaluate career education programs, services and resources that support teaching and learning, contribute to a holistic approach to student development, and are mindful of the student life cycle. Adhere to the Canadian Standards and Guidelines for Career Development Practitioners (CSGCDP).
Nature of Work: Reporting to the Manager of the Student Employment and Career Centre (SECC), this position involves one-on-one and group interaction with students and alumni in varying levels of career exploration and readiness, presenting with a variety of complex issues that require high levels of concentration, focus, sensitivity, and professionalism. Grounded in a student-centered, solution-focused approach, the position requires the ongoing assessment and monitoring of student/alumni needs and progress along with the selection and implementation of appropriate interventions, assessments, resources, consultations, and referrals. This position also involves close collaboration within the SECC, and across Colleges and other student service units to determine appropriate interventions to meet the career education needs of students and alumni.
