The Addictions Worker is responsible for providing essential services to the children and families, within the communities of Montreal Lake and Little Red River Reserve 106B, in which they will provide treatment and recovery plans through the land based approach. The Addictions Worker will provide the following services, while employed with Montreal Lake Child and Family Agency:
Certificate in substance abuse and/or equivalent experience or a certification in addictions counselling through a recognized institution.
Applies theoretical knowledge needed for an effective and compassionate role in treatment, prevention and health promotion wherever addiction, or the potential for addiction affects peoples lives.
Conducts clinical case conferences, ensuring client progress and documentation.
Assess clients for mental health, addiction and/or addiction related issues including co-occurring disorders in accordance with the developmental model of recovery; the Saskatchewan Model of Recovery Services, the Motivational Assessment Process and the policies and procedures established by Addiction Services to provide appropriate counselling services referrals for clients
Develops rehabilitative plans for clients
Develops public education, prevention and health promotion programs in response to client needs
Conducts counselling and group therapy sessions meeting clients needs and in the problem-solving process
Assists in review, revision and development of treatment policies and procedures
Must live a healthy lifestyle and refrain from activities that bring discredit to MLCFA (public intoxication, drug use, abuse against others)
Must maintain confidentiality
