Reporting to the Machine Director, the successful candidate will lead a team of experts responsible for facility maintenance, operational support and beamline maintenance support.  The Operations and Technical Services Manager is also responsible for the facility project management process including overall direction, coordination, implementation, execution, control and completion, ensuring consistency with CLS strategy, commitments and goals. The Operations and Technical Services Manager holds primary responsibility for managing the human resources activities of the department including recruitment and selection, supervision, scheduling, professional development, performance management and discipline.
A relevant post-secondary degree, diploma or journey persons ticket in a technical field is required, including a minimum of seven years of work experience in progressive leadership roles. Equivalent combination of education and work experience will be considered where demonstrated success is clear. Highly developed interpersonal, organizational, planning and leadership skills are required. The candidate should possess excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with various internal and external stakeholders, effective presentation skills, sound judgement, and demonstrated ability to build rapport and resolve complex issues among multiple levels of staff.
