Casual Assistant Cook. Professional Cooking certification preferred but not required. Food Safe Certificate.
Assists the cook with the preparation, production, and distribution of the food.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
A. Food Preparation
Includes breakfast, dinner, supper and nourishments.
Clean and prepare food (i.e. fruits, vegetables and poultry)
Slice, grind, puree, shred (i.e. meat, cheese)
Measure ingredients
Make sandwiches, butter bread and toast
Make Jell-O, salads and desserts
Prepare special lunches and nourishment (i.e. diabetic, low calorie, gluten free, allergy diets, thicken fluids, low fat)
B. Serving
Portion food items and beverages (i.e. desserts, hot and cold cereal)
Serve breakfast, dinner, supper, nourishment and assemble trays
Assist with catering special functions
C. Clean/Sanitize/Disassemble
Clean and disinfect/sanitize all work areas (surfaces), equipment and floors according to established procedures, standards and guidelines, as per daily, weekly, cleaning schedules
Wash dishes by machine
Gather garbage and dispose
Scrape/spray dishes; soak tubs
D. Cooking/Food Preparation
Prepare hot cereals, eggs, pancakes, sausages, soups, casseroles, sauces, gravies, hamburgers, potatoes, rice, pasta
Bake muffins, biscuits and dairy desserts
Pan meats
E. Miscellaneous
Unlock kitchen, fridge and doors
Perform quality control/temperature checks/rotation of stock
Receive phone calls, requests, and communicate diet changes
Update cardex patient information
