Summary of Duties:
Reporting to the Executive Chef, the position of General Helper/Dishwasher works under supervision of the Executive Chef or designate. The General Helper/Dishwashers primary objective is to provide a clean and safe kitchen area, wash and clean tableware, pots, pans and cooking equipment, in addition to keeping the dish room and equipment clean and organized. Putting away clean kitchen and tableware. Carrying out general cleaning and kitchen maintenance. The General Helper/Dishwasher also performs a variety of food preparation duties other than cooking. Working effectively as part of a team, to ensure the safe and efficient preparation of food within a specified time frame.
Education and Experience:
Grade 12 education or a combination of relevant education, training and experience
At least one years experience in a restaurant/hotel kitchen operation is preferred.
Successful completion of a Safe Food Handling Course, a definite asset
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of public health regulations and standards.
Ability to work conscientiously and with minimal direction and supervision.
Good organizational and time management skills.
Ability to pay attention to detail.
Highly motivated, enthusiastic and cooperative
