Description

Title:   Jensen's House Youth Support
Reports to:  Housing Coordinator
Hours: Full time hours: Wednesdays-Sundays 3pm-11pm
3-month probation and review.

Job Purpose:
You will be working closely with and providing services to youth involved with SCP Housing in a Youth Support capacity.  Your primary role will be engaging youth one-on-one and in-group settings, while teaching youth life skills such as cooking, cleaning, budgeting, etc. You will supervise, engage with, and ensure all needs of the youth are met, reporting on youth progress and administration when necessary. You will work closely with the Case Worker and Case Manager of the project to ensure that deliverables are met.  You will also be responsible with planning/coordinating evening programming with other Housing and SCP staff.  Housing residents typically have high levels of behavioral and cognitive challenges.  These challenges result in a high level of need and as such residents have one to one mentorship hours, crisis support workers, psychologists etc. as deemed necessary both by the Agency and the Ministry of Social Services.  


Requirements:  
    Experience with program delivery, strong interpersonal skills, and positive youth role modeling;
    Strong understanding of the Youth Centred Manual & our procedures and guidelines;
    Self directed;
    Experience in administration and documentation;
    Relevant post-secondary education and/or experience equivalence;
    Training: CPR/First-Aid (B), Conflict Resolution, ASIST, Crisis Intervention, Water Safety;
    Knowledge and experience in:
o    Working with youth; working with a First Nations population; working with youth with cognitive disabilities;
    Valid Drivers License with clean driving record;  
    Flexibility in scheduling required.
