Day & Ross is currently seeking a full-time Shunt Driver for our Freight division in Saskatoon, SK.

This position is tentatively scheduled for 10 hour daytime shifts on Sunday, Monday, Thursday and Friday.
As a shunt driver you would be responsible for ensuring the proper, safe and timely handling of inbound and outbound trailers within the Terminal Yard. The successful candidate must ensure they maintain a clean work environment with a focus on proper handling techniques and safety.
To be successful in this role, you will exceptionally complete the following, non-exhaustive, list of responsibilities:
Move trailers to and from the dock doors
Park and organize equipment in the yard
Conduct a yard check which includes recording trailer numbers, fuel levels, trailer contents, and seal numbers
Conduct reefer check including unit number, reefer settings and fuel level
Seal trailers
Assist Linehaul and P&D Drivers with locating, positioning and other equipment requirements
Regularly assist on the Dock (handling of 50-75lbs freight)
Operate a Forklift in congested areas
Other related duties as may be required
To be qualified for this role, please ensure your resume clearly displays some or all of the following:
Minimum of secondary education
Previous Transportation or operational experience with at least 1 year experience driving a shunt truck is preferred
Class 1 license preferred but not necessary with applicable experience
Forklift Certification
Ability to lift up to 75 lbs
Safety-minded
Able to communicate effectively
Working conditions can include close proximity to moving vehicles, exposure to outside conditions, fumes and/or airborne particles. Physical activity such as climbing in and out of trucks, bending, and lifting may be required.
