Wanuskewin Heritage Park (WHP) is accepting applications for a Senior Interpretive Guide. The position requires excellent leadership and teamwork skills and will include the following accountabilities:
- Determine and apply a variety of heritage presentation and interpretation techniques in the development of meaningful, captivating and enjoyable presentations, non-personal interpretive products and demonstrations
- Participate in the delivery of programming through interpretation, storytelling, etc. both on-site and off to specific audience requirements
- Contribute to a welcoming environment for all Wanuskewin visitors and guests with a focus on service excellence
- Ensure park visitors are informed and equipped with information about trail routes, programs, regulations, and issues or concerns related to public health and safety
- Accurately enter all admissions and tours into the POS/database and handle payments
- Recommend and actively support the development and implementation of all programming including demonstrations, workshops, interpretation of Plains Indigenous Cultures, natural history and ecological features, exhibits, displays and artifacts
- Ensure excellence in the stewardship of all resources
Required Qualifications and Experience
Post-secondary education in a related field (Indigenous Studies, Tourism & Hospitality, Education, Archaeology, etc.) is considered an asset. Demonstrated knowledge of Indigenous cultures and traditions as well as previous experience conducting presentations is required. Previous experience in public speaking and storytelling would be considered an asset.
