Neil Squire Society has launched a new assistive technology initiative called Makers Making Change (MMC). It is a new design and distribution model working directly with people with disabilities, makers, skilled volunteers, corporations and local student groups to create access solutions. These prototypes are refined through internships and volunteers, and released open-source as a solution that can be affordably made at the local level.
The Regional Coordinator will assist in developing models for integrating MMC into the culture of various makerspaces and hackspaces in their region, and will be responsible for collecting information on how to best approach these partnerships.
The Regional Coordinator will implement and promote this project regionally by coordinating events, acquiring local publicity via local and social media, developing relationships as well as crucial partnerships locally with potential project partners including makers, universities, students, disabilities organizations, hospitals and professionals working with people with disabilities.
