Description

The Ministry of Justice has permanent part time opportunities for Registered Psychiatric Nurses or Registered Nurses who are self-confident, positive role models to work in the Regina Correctional Centre/White Birch Remand Unit.

Our nurses are professionals who are compassionate, respectful and empathetic, and eager to contribute positively at work within a team of health care professionals in providing direct nursing care and treatment to male and female patients in our Adult Centres.

Work consists of responding to medical/psychiatric emergencies with appropriate interventions and assessing medical and mental conditions, actively promoting preventative health measures, maintaining accurate patient records, and making referrals as required.

Our nurses are actively registered (or eligible for registration) with the Registered Psychiatric Nurses Association of Saskatchewan (RPNAS), or the Saskatchewan Registered Nurses Association (SRNA).  They possess knowledge in medical and psychiatric theories and related intervention strategies; drug/alcohol withdrawal indicators and effects; communicable diseases; public health issues and risk factors and possess knowledge of various multi-cultural beliefs values and perspectives.  A valid Standard First Aid/HCP-CPR/AED certificate is required or must be completed within three months of being hired.
