Description

The Language Facilitator  (Cree, Saulteaux, Nakota, or Dakota) supports the First Nations that are a part of the Treaty 4 Education Alliance New Paths for Education proposal.

QUALIFICATIONS:
    Work conscientiously in collaboration with T4EA School Success Planning team to organize, coordinate, develop and deliver first-rate First Nations language retention/renewal focused professional learning opportunities for a variety of audiences
    Successfully engage and assist a variety of stakeholders in the understanding of curriculum, learning strategies, assessment strategies, and data analysis in the area of Language Instruction.
    Models lessons and strategies that emphasize best practices in Language Instruction, with specific emphasis on First Nations approaches (e.g. land-based, experiential learning, incorporation of Indigenous and local knowledge, intergenerational learning, community building)
    Works to effectively engage community members, parents/families, Elders/knowledge keepers, and others in raising understanding and/or involvement in community-based First Nations language retention/renewal efforts
    Be fluent or near fluent in a First Nations language (as applicable to this posting)
    have knowledge of traditional culture and language, with an understanding of
cultural differences, connection to elders, community values and beliefs, protocols
    Design, adapt and model engaging and culturally relevant lessons, strategies and approaches including best practices in language instruction
    Support T4EA colleagues, teachers and school staff in the selection and implementation of language specific resources that are culturally relevant, responsive and aligned to curricula
    A Bachelors degree in Education or a related field
    Teaching/Facilitation experience  preference may be given to those holding a valid Professional A SK Teachers Certificate
