Primary Purpose: To provide service as a Machinist/Instrument Maker in the Physics Machine Shop within the Department of Physics and Engineering Physics.
Nature of Work: Reporting to the Supervisor/Manager (and ultimately the Head of the Department), this position provides support for the operation of the Physics Machine Shop. This position interacts with faculty and staff, undergraduate and graduate students, within and outside the Department. Work is performed independently within a team environment, subject to deadlines and priorities. This position may perform as a working supervisor with responsibility for coordinating and monitoring the work of others. The incumbent is expected to contribute with innovative ideas. The quality of work has to meet high standards. Tasks are broad and complex and require the application of broad working knowledge and skills. Note: incumbent must be physically capable of meeting the Physical Demands Analysis requirements for the position.
