We are an interdisciplinary team and work together to help each area of our organization grow and thrive.  Our team carries an all-hands on deck mentality, and we each pitch in when and where possible, whether thats strategic planning or brainstorming sessions, or coming together to deliver our programming and special events.  Its definitely a team environment, and we're looking for someone with a non-profit heart who has a passion for making a difference in peoples lives..

Reporting to the Executive Director, this role assists with comprehensive counselling that will help people cope with mental health and wellness issues following a death loss, traumatic loss, or ambiguous loss.  The candidate will offer counselling services that include one-on-one supports, peer support groups, a children's grief program delivered semi-annually, support for our annual conference, and a year-end hope and resiliency event.

The Counsellor's work is essential to the success of counselling, Caring Hearts Camp, our Missing Persons Initiative, and our Federal Government Partnership delivering on our CASE Project.  These province-wide projects require cultural sensitivity, an ability to partner with our Education Coordinator, and experience working with Indigenous communities.

This is a part-time position of approximately 8 - 10 hours per week (8:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. Tuesdays and 5:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. Thursdays) with individual counselling as well as evening support group work. Other duties as assigned.

A University Master's degree in Social Work/Psychology is required as well as case management experience working with trauma, bereavement and missing persons' loss to various age ranges.

Any of the following training would be considered an asset: Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Treating Anxiety in Bereavement, Therapeutic Crisis Intervention Training, Trauma-Informed Care, Cultural sensitivity training, EMDR, ASIST, Mental Health First Aid.
