JOB DESCRIPTION:
Help with:
-- Unwrapping hives
-- Performing spring maintenance on hives
-- Feeding bees
-- Testing and treating for diseases
-- Making nucleus hives
-- Helping with queen rearing
-- Catching and installing queens
-- Building equipment
-- Working with power tools
-- Supering hives
-- Pulling honey
-- Extracting honey
-- Preparing hives for winter
-- Wrapping hives
--MUST be able to stack and lift heavy boxes and work in summer heat.
--MUST be able to work with power tools.
--MUST be available to work evenings, weekends and
holidays. We work 6 days/week and typically 8am-8pm. Some very early mornings and late evenings may be required in order to move hives.
--Because of the seasonality of farm work, labour law does not mandate overtime pay on farms.
--The positions starting in April must have at least one season of experience working with honeybees.
--The positions starting in June must have some experience handling honeybees. .
--Applicants cannot have an allergy to honeybee stings.
