Description

The Saskatchewan Ministry of the Economys Saskatchewan Geological Survey is seeking a self-motivated and committed Precambrian Geologist to plan and implement a variety of field and office projects on aspects of the geology of the Precambrian Shield of Saskatchewan.  In addition to conducting short and long-term field investigations, the successful candidate will apply current geological, geochemical, and geophysical techniques to prepare scientific reports, papers, and seminars.  Providing technical consultation to industry, government, and the public may also be required.  Applicants must have the ability and willingness to work in remote and physically demanding wilderness areas of northern Saskatchewan for extended periods of time.

Applicants should have knowledge of the Precambrian geology of Saskatchewan as well as structural and mineral deposit geology and igneous and metamorphic petrology.  Applicants should also have the ability to gather, evaluate, and interpret geological data employing geochemical, geochronological, geophysical, and isotopic techniques; establish and maintain effective and productive working relationships with client groups, including industry, the aboriginal community, other government personnel, and the public; and input, create, and generate accurate maps and reports using a variety of computer applications including geographic information systems, graphics, and geological mapping software.
