BASIC PURPOSE:
The Logistics engineer is responsible for the technical support of the Materials Value Streams Production Plan as laid out by the Warehouse VSL.
DUTIES:
Design, measure and continuously improve warehouse specific KPIs (Key Performance Indicators)
Structural organization of the transport, storage and warehousing of raw materials and purchased components to improve warehouse KPIs.
Analyse and improves warehouse layouts to optimize material flow, storage, picking and line feeding.
Modifies and improves existing logistics information systems such as material flow, storage and information flow.
Develops and reviews project charters, proposals and plans based on project goals to determine time frame, project budget, and procedures for accomplishing project, staffing requirements, and allotment of available resources to various phases of projects.
Completed the planning and coordination of new product introductions; assess the impact and supports changes to overall production schedules.
Design & create value for team members by proactively managing, developing, improving, and monitoring packaging requirements.
Assists Materials procurement team in the development and implementation of methods for material ordering, transportation and packaging.
Supports Implementation of 5S within the warehouse.
Continually expand knowledge of industry trends and opportunities in packaging logistics and actively initiates and leads continuous improvement initiatives.
Generates savings initiatives, customization and assist warehouse team member to implement continuous improvement ideas.
Procuring and analysing quotes from external suppliers.
Analyse, recommends and implements changes to existing department processes, develops new processes, suggests improvements to increase department efficiency.
Develops, recommends and implements measures to improve shipping methods, equipment performance, packaging and quality of product.
