Job Summary
Involved in maintenance, repair, and fabrication work. The employee must be skillful in the use of a variety of metal machining tools and precision measuring devices to cut, grind, or otherwise shape metal and plastic parts into conformance with specified dimensions.
Program, set up and operate precision metal fabrication machines, including CNC equipment, such as lathes and milling machines, drills, press brakes and stamping machines.
Interpret specifications, drawings or sample parts and plan the machining and other processes for fabrication.
Support Engineering, Production and Quality Control by producing jigs for fitting, welding and brazing operations and checking all tooling to ensure that high quality parts are consistently produced.
Test and provide constructive feedback on existing and newly manufactured products and equipment
Work closely with Engineering department and assist in field research, product development, and testing.
Maintain an orderly and organized work area.
Apply principles of lean production to each project.
Manage R&D consumables and material to minimize costs.
Select tooling for all CNC equipment and serve as a resource for selecting tools for machinists and machine operators.
Qualifications and Skills
Journeyman Machinist certification and/or have basic skills in heating and cutting with oxy-acetylene equipment and tack welding with electric arc welding equipment.
Must be physically fit, farming experience is an asset.
Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
Quality work in a safe and timely manner with high attention to detail
Punctual, willing to work overtime as needed
