Description

Reports to Engineering & Maintenance Manager.

Purpose:
- Maintain and improve production processes by evaluating, testing and resolving product line issues
- Ensure overall efficiency and produce quality products in a cost effective and safe manner
- Actively participate in safety initiatives, and be proactive in identifying safety hazard in process areas, and implement corrections.

Areas of responsibility:
- Act as the primary point of contact for machine and equipment vendors with respect to quoting and resolution of technical issues.
- Conducts tests and experiments to analyze problem areas
- Evaluates new suppliers, raw materials, product designs and manufacturing methods and costs.
- Develops and implements continuous improvement initiatives, safety improvement initiatives, scrap and cost reduction plans
- Creates or modifies engineering procedures and train Operators on those procedures
- Control inventory of tools and dies in order to ensure that adequate materials are ready available when required.
- Analyzes manufacturing process capabilities of new products to identify potential production processing
- Interfaces with Customers concerning their technical needs
- Responds to Customer complaints in order to resolve their problems and issues in the use of Nexans? products
- An understanding of Nexans Values, competitive strategic initiatives such as NEW programs and initiatives to improve safety such as JSAs and SUSA.
- Complies with Nexans policies as well as departmental procedures
- Manage and Implement assigned Engineering Projects

Required Qualifications and Skills:
- University Degree in Mechanical, Industrial or Metallurgical Engineering or related discipline
- Two to three years experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Knowledge of resolving process problems through various analysis tools
- Wire manufacturing knowledge an asset.
- Excellent verbal, written and presentation skills.
