Description

PURPOSE:  
    To work as a part of the facilities team of engineers and technologists in the selection and support of manufacturing buildings and equipment.
    Provide direction regarding construction and remodeling of industrial and commercial buildings and grounds.


MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:
    Manage and Design new industrial building projects or renovations to existing structures
    Develop and validate structural details and drawings
    Prepare conceptual and detailed design calculations in accordance with relevant Canadian and local codes.
    Prepare civil/structural specifications and contract documents
    Design and develop recommendations to meet drainage and load bearing requirements for commercial yards and roads.
    Coordinate engineering and construction work schedules
    Perform site inspections to ensure contractors are performing work to standard or code


QUALIFICATIONS:
    Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering or related field with 5-10 years of experience
    Knowledge and understanding of general civil/structural , industrial codes, standards, and construction methods
    Strong computer skills, including familiarity with SolidWorks and Microsoft Office programs
    Strong organizational and project management skills
    Well developed interpersonal and leadership skills
    High degree of analytical thought and creativity


SALARY RANGE:
Dependent on experience.
