Job Duties:
Examine patients and take their histories, order laboratory tests, X-rays and other diagnostic procedures, Consult with other medical practitioners to evaluate patients' physical and mental health, Prescribe and administer medications and treatments, Provide pre-natal and post-natal care, Advise patients on health care, Report births, deaths, contagious and other diseases to government authorities, Communicate health promotion, disease, illness and accident prevention to patients, Perform patient advocacy role, Provide counselling and support to patients and their families on a wide range of health and lifestyle issues, Provide emergency care, Participate on institutional committees.
Practice Profile:
Practice Size: approx. 1,300 patients
Practice Type: Primary Health Care
Hours of Work: 9am 5pm (5 days per week)
On Call Rotation: This position is complemented by a rotation of family physicians in providing on-site coverage in the Emergency Department at the Tisdale Hospital on a 24 hour, 7 day-a-week basis. On call worked and scheduled is communicated as per the call roster; Post call day optional.
