PRIMARY FUNCTION
The Plant Engineer is responsible for providing mechanical project engineering, project management, and construction management for sustaining capital projects, either independently or as part of a multi-disciplinary team. The scope of this position typically includes the replacement of equipment that has reached the end of its service life or projects that are completed to provide upgrades to production capability, equipment reliability, or safety.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
CRCs Core Principles must be adhered to and always take priority over production. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: defining and developing a detailed scope of complex engineering projects, preparing the required funding approval paperwork, providing detailed design engineering (including field verification of designs), preparation of construction work packages, and monitoring project schedules and cash flow. Duties also include managing the construction, functional testing, and commissioning/start-up of assigned projects to ensure they are completed in a safe, timely, and cost effective manner. Regular interaction with construction Trades will be necessary. Duties may also include mentoring Engineers-In-Training or supervising a limited number of staff. This position reports to the Manager Plant Engineering.
QUALIFICATIONS
Qualifications for this position include a Bachelors degree in Engineering with a minimum of 10 years of related experience in an industrial environment. Candidates must be registered or be eligible to register with APEGS as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng).
