Description

Working under the direction of the Chief and Council and or Director of Operations, the Director of Finance performs professional, advisory and confidential financial duties abiding by the Financial Management Policy and Procedures Manual. The incumbent will prepare annual program budgets, provide monthly and annual financial reports, and ensure financial management is consistent with general accepted accounting principles (GAAP) that meet audit standards. Responsible for the maintenance of the financial management policy and procedures manual, develop the appropriate administration forms and approval processes on finance procedures, ensure payroll is processed, oversee account receivables and account payables, maintain all banking relationships and meet the terms and conditions of transfer agreement funding.

Education & Experience:

The ideal candidate will be an innovative professional with a thorough knowledge of in the area of Financial Management. The essential skills, knowledge and abilities required include the following:
    The incumbent requires a Bachelors degree in Commerce, Business or Accounting with a minimum 5 years of relevant work experience in progressive finance roles performing planning, analysis and reporting. Equivalent education and experience will be considered.
    A professional accounting designation (CGA, CA etc.) is preferred.
The incumbent will possess experience developing budgets, forecasting, customizing and generating financial reports, working with accounting software.
Knowledge of regulating requirements and other provincial and regulatory bodies related to a First Nation.
